Privacy policy

Lockspeare is built so that we cannot see your photos, even if we wanted to. This policy explains the little data that exists and where it goes.

Last updated October 2, 2026

Who we are

Lockspeare is operated by {{LEGAL_ENTITY}}, {{ADDRESS}} (“we”, “us”). For any privacy question, write to privacy@lockspeare.com.

The app

What we never receive

  • Your photos, videos or files. They are encrypted on your phone and stay there, or in your own backup location.
  • Your PIN or pattern, recovery phrase or encryption keys.
  • Your name, email address or phone number. The app has no accounts.
  • Your location, contacts or advertising ID. The app contains no ads and no analytics libraries.

We do not operate servers that store or process your content. How the encryption works is described in detail on How it works.

Backups to Google Drive

If you turn on backup, the app uploads your already encrypted files to a hidden app folder in your own Google Drive account. The connection is between your phone and Google; we never receive this data. Google can see the number, size and timing of the encrypted files, under Google’s privacy policy. It cannot read their contents.

Purchases

Purchases are processed by Google Play. Google shares with us the information needed to confirm a purchase, such as an order number, the product, the country and the date. We do not receive your payment details. See Google’s privacy policy.

Crash reports (off by default)

If you turn on crash reports in the app’s settings, the app sends technical information when it fails: the app version, phone model, Android version and where in the code the error happened. Crash reports never include your files, file names, PIN, pattern or keys. We use them only to fix bugs and keep them for up to 90 days. You can turn them off at any time.

Crash reports are processed by {{CRASH_PROVIDER}} on our behalf.

This website

The website uses Cloudflare Web Analytics to count visits. It does not use cookies or track you across sites; it records things like the page visited, the referring site, the country and the browser type. The website is hosted by Cloudflare, which processes technical data such as IP addresses to deliver and protect the site.

Where the GDPR applies, we process crash reports based on your consent, which you can withdraw in the app settings. We process purchase records and website statistics based on our legitimate interest in running and improving Lockspeare, and to meet our tax and accounting obligations.

Your rights

You can ask us to access, correct or delete personal data we hold about you, or object to its processing. Because the app has no accounts, we usually hold nothing that identifies you. Purchase records are held by Google Play; you can manage them in your Google account. You also have the right to complain to your data protection authority.

Children

Lockspeare is not directed at children under 13.

Changes

If we change this policy, we will update the date above. Significant changes will also be shown in the app.
